The Pope Pops His Clogs

Pope Francis is dead. He died at the age of 88.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born in Buenos Aires in 1936 and took the name Francis in honour of St Francis of Assisi.

Jesuit Pope Francis was a very liberal, and woke Catholic pope and was seen by some Catholics as a reformer and others as not conservative enough.

Another pope is now being chosen by 120 cardinals in the conclave.
