Every verse you cites was from the OLD covenant between God the Father and the Jewish people. Jesus came to establish a NEW covenant between Himself (as the Father's representative) and the Jewish people, but the Jews did not recognize Him as their Messiah. The NEW covenant replaces the OLD covenant by the very act of sacrificial love; Jesus gave His life to atone for the sins of mankind. John 15:13, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." And that's exactly what Jesus said, and did; laid down His life for us.

The NEW covenant is documented in the Bible:

After a lifetime of agnosticism and only recently assuring myself that I am an atheist, it only took me a few minutes of common sense to derive at the same conclusion that it took scientists five years to resolve. But I understand exactly why they needed to do this. My findings would have been based on conjecture whereas theirs were a result of undeniable, rigorous, scientific research. Otherwise, no one else would have taken their findings seriously.

I applaud their efforts and yes it was money well spent. Although I am a libertarian I would have gladly paid my taxes if my government would fund many more meaningful endeavors such as this one. But wait, what is the Institute of Historical Research? I am not really certain because this article is out of Washington DC but the language itself is in Oxford English. A Google search indicates that it is a London based think tank (research) at the University of London. It is part of the School of Advanced Study at the University of London.

I should have known better that to think that the United States federal government which prints "In God We Trust" on its currency and inserts "under God" on its pledge of allegiance would have ever funded such an effort. And, it is done despite the First Amendment stipulation of free expression that demands a separation of church and state.

This really is a very important op-ed piece. Although I am certain that there are other very detailed articles on this subject, the story should have made all the papers and mass media in the United States. But instead it was silent on this.

I was also mislead by the title because it infers that they have completed their work. Because of this, at first only wanted to give this very short article a very satisfactory 5 out of 10 for the fine opinion writing and acknowledging a few important details.

However, when the final report is released I want to an article that details much more information such as who and how many scientists there were: the difficulties that they encountered; how much money it took to fund it; what was meant by all religious books and which religions were exposed besides the major ones?

I believe that a few more phone calls, interviews, Internet research, and good old fashioned foot work would have provided some of these answers. The writer could have also provided links to related sources.

During the transition from a natural animal instinct level of communication (i.e. birds fly north and south seasonal in thousand mile flights to same locations, crabs move inland before hurricanes influence at locations if hitting land, etc..)..... humans experienced disconnection from natural influences they were used to, a crossover leading to hallucination in terms of higher level abstractions effort to explain natural instinct level communication. And this became the basis of what extrapolated into religions.

The Christian god required meetings of 200 men to decide what/who/ the essence of god was and that he was indeed a three-headed, 6 legged god.

Figures such as Abraham also create their own problems with Abraham having his own debateable creation story. Abraham is merely another attempt by man to explain his origins appearing as a combination of Jesus and Adam. Despite the fact that all three monotheistic religions appear under his name as an umbrella term he is ascribed vastly different characteristics ranging from a bedouin farmer to a wealthy landowner. HIs wife Sarah is somehow a great beauty aged 65 and is expedited to the Pharaohs harem despite harems being more or less only related to the storing of women gained from political or financial transactions and treaties between government and other similar entities. Abraham and Sarah use the ruse of being siblings more than once.
The story of Abraham and Hagar appears to be written to include somehow more Egyptian characters into a narrative that glorifies the characters of Hebrews in the story - that in fact one of the largest agricultural success stories in antiquity was beholden to a single 'Jew' of questionable education, with success or failure based not off of scientific methods that existed at the time like nilometers but the say-so of a foreigner.
Later on Sarah gives birth in her 90's which also defies biology. The one thing that god has set in stone is a definite limit on the amount of potential births a woman can have over one lifetime. Is Sarah was infertile into old age she would have stopped menstruating like all women. Starting to menstruate would have been a miracle in itself but this is not mentionned in any canon.


In the period of antiquity in what is now the Holy Land we should see ample evidence that Jerusalem as capital of the United Monarchy was a substantial town, instead archaeological surveys clearly show that that is not the case. Instead it was a tiny hill town that only gained settlers who themselves were refugees from the north of the region such as Israel proper.
It was the conquest of the region by the Babylonians in and around the 6th century BC that caused the Jewish diasporas. This itself was the catalyst that produced the psychological need to create one all powerful god and also brought those in the diaspora into contact with other civilizations that had a saviour myth. Even so their most powerful God was still worshipped with a wife figure for a long time before being abandoned.
If we look further beyond bibles and religious books to older texts and myths, we can see that many if not all of the stories in the bible are replications of previous stories. Gilgamesh and Noah, Mises and Moses, Horus and Isis Mer and Jesus and the Virgin Mary. The very fact that the stories are similar is the smoking gun. In the same way it is not possible for popular composers of the past to time travel forwards to steal the work of Andrew Lloyd Webber, it is also not possible for creation myth and religious stories to have existed before those who wish to claim ownership of the today.
The whole reason why apologetics exists in the first place is because there is much to be corrected, defended and debated within all religions that conflicts with the reality of the situation we are suppsoed to live with.
The gospels themselves do not agree even as to where Jesus was born and where he lived afterwards. The gospels of Matthew and Luke say that Jesus was born in Bethlehem but the gospel of John says that he was born in Galilee. John also says that he was rejected by the Jews precisely because he was NOT born in Bethlehem.
I think we can all agree that birthdates need to be fixed for there to be some semblance of truth. Birthplaces at they very very least ought to be the same but they are not showing that Jesus cannot possibly be real if biblical scholarship is to be accepted as truth.
This is further compoundede by the fact that according to the Bible everybody knew that Jesus had been born, particularly as even King Herod directed the wise men to follow a star in the night sky. Luke says that Jesus was taken to the temple and imediately proclaimed to be the Messiah so it should have been no mystery to Herod. On the other hand Matthew says that Herod didn't find out for at least another two years or so; so again we have clear contradictions to a story that really ought to oly ave one version if it were to be true.
Furthermore Matthew say that Jesus was boen before Herod died which was in 4BC and of course that they fled to Egypt. Luke on the other hand says that Jesus was born in a census year 10 years after Herod's death. He also doesn't say they left for Egypt and in fact stayed in Nazareth the whole time.

On the other hand actual people who documented history such as Josephus mention nothing of Jesus. In the Antiquities of the Jews, Josephus literally lists the crimes of King Herod and doesn't mention the slaughter of the innocents in which Herod supposedly ordered the murder of all newborn babies in order to prevent the existence of any messiah character. This is surely a big deal to have occured and would have been somewhere near the top of the list of crimes but Josephus doesn't mention it because it never happened.

The authorship of all the gospels in highly questionable and only the most ignorant of Christians believes that they were written by Mark, Matthew, Luke and John.
The four gopsels obviously represented competing schools of philosophy over the figure of Jesus. Their inclusion above all other stories merely exist because it was believed that Jesus ought to be portrayed as someone who really existed rather than the allegorical figures alluded to in the Gnostic gospels not included in the official canon. Portraying agreement of Jesus as a real person was certainly easier than agreeing his back story as so the easier of two tasks was accomplished. As the Gnostic gospels describe the same person but as an obvious fiction it is clear that it was DECIDED that Jesus should only be described as real as that is what makes the canon today.
Individuals such as Justin Martyr who wrote in Greek quotes heavily from the old testament but never once names Mark, MAtthew, Luke or John. On the other hand he argues with the Gnostic gospel authors about whether Jesus existed or not. The Gnostics were obviously aware that Jesus was not a historic figure and Justin's lack of knowledge or support from Mark, Matthew, Luke and John demonstrates that they weren't around before his death in 165BC.

Many apologists choose to include highly dubious sources as evidence of Jesus's existence such as Josephus in which he is made to say that Jesus was the Christ - which no card carrying Jew like Josephus would ever say. Josephus writes extensively about other radical movements like the Essenes but mentions next to nothing about Jesus's following or the apostle Paul who was supposedly executed by Nero as he was such a threat.
Out of Paul's numerous epistles only seven or so are asserted to be genuine by modern scholars; Timothy 1 and 2 , Collosians, Titus and so on are certainly not his work if he did exist and even then authorshp of 'genuine' epistles is asserted rather than outright proven.
Furthmore Paul's 'genuine' books begin at crucifixion and there is no mention of Jesus being from Nazareth, no mention of Pontius Pilate and certainly nothing about the gospels of Mark Matthew, Luke and John.
Paul is clearly a parody of the real Apollonius of Tyana who shares the exact same story only with a pre-christian bent.

Monotheism is a reaction the expanding knowledge of human beings at the time with science, astronomy and mathematics taking problems of existence and explanations out of the heavens and into the grasp of the non religious. The move to place a belief system on top of a hierarchy under continual usurpation by humans is a predictable and expected reaction fromthose within any clergy. Deities are combined and upgraded to sit atop any philosophical structure where logical explanations replace the actions of the gods. When the movements and actions of the stars in the nights sky become predictable and measureable they cease to become the whims and responsibilties of the gods. The move to monotheism merely represents the ideals of priests and clergy to re-assert their own place as powerful authority figures within their own culture, the only other option being choosing a favourite from a patheon when the collective is affected by external threats.

Indeed persons such as Mohammed, who created Islam were influenced by the cultures and beliefs of the region where he lived. Mohammed clearly combined the Moon God Allah with the Jewish Yahweh to create Islam and acted as a one man show in order to gain control over large areas. The Quran, unlike the bible does not attempt to be a history book as by this point Mohammed was competing with greater numbers of writers, scholars and poets whose work was admired or despised by Mohammed in roughly equal numbers.

The problems with Islam start almost immediately with Muslims believing they are the children of Abraham based on the story that Abraham impregnated an Egyptian servant/slave named Hagar. But since Abraham didn't exist it is likely that Hagar didn't either. That said Hagar did endure a great deal of suffering with Sarah as her mistress and owner and so is a more sympathetic figure to spring board your religion off of.
Mohammed lived in a world surrounded by Jewish settlements hundreds of years of and so it should be no suprise that a great deal of reinvention and appropriation occurs.
The only difference is that for the majority of the Quran Mohammed is the only person who recieves any word from God at all. This is very odd as the exact same god is shown in older books and stories to have spoken to a variety of people across the spectrum from men and women to low and high born people. It is never made clear why God would choose Mohammed over the scores of better educated and more honourable individuals of the region such as the plethora of respected poets but what is clear is that God quickly becomes Mohammed's benefactor and no-one elses.

Mohammed benefits so personally from his relationship with Allah that even issues that might require some deep introspection are solved with convinient moments of clarity. When Mohammed covets his adopted son's wife, Mohammed is conviniently given the justification to affect a divorce and the morality to pursue her. Why an almighty god would be remotely interested in the sexual wantoness of Mohammed is at direct odds with the supreme majesty alluded to by Muslims. Allah is either an all powerful God not subject to the whims and wants of man or he is a being who creates the possibilties of morally questionable sexual trysts and who demands his share in earthly things created by himself.
That Allah stipulates his share of booty and captured goods shows that Mohammed's philosophy was more about his own creation of power than divinely received words from the heavens. Furthermore the Quran is chock-a-block with contradictions that range across all subjects which Muslim apologists.
According to the Quran man was created by; congealed blood, clay, dust, nothing and a drop of sperm. The first Muslim was Abraham, Moses, Mohammed or Jacob. The consumption of wine is an abomination yet promised in heaven and Allah both does and does not forgiv those who worship false gods.

The lack of consensus on many issues in the Quran is very odd in the face of statements which assert that the Quran is perfection or similar seeing as many statements later have polar opposites delievered with the same authority. The changeablility of ideals and beliedfs more or less mirrors the role that Mohammed himself played in the creation of his own religion. People are directed to act for his temporal benefit, he achieves great wealth and power and individuals are manipulated in situations where ultimately he benefits more than the Allah himself. Many of the stories revolve so heavily around Mohammed that without Mohammed, Allah himself might not exist.


The overriding theme of all three religions is that one way or the other they all fail the consistency test. Characters asserted to be real are usually undocumented and with more than one history, birthplaces are widespread and conflict with the real historic evidence that we have.
Creation myths and origin stories are blatantly lifted from previous extant civilizations with impunity and older great civilizations are relegated beneath fictional towns and cities.

Those of the religious persuasion might wonder why the towns and cities of antiquity are mostly pagan in origin and why hardly any time sensitive evidence from biblical times exists. It is because they never existed. Instead cultures worthy of respect that were superior in custom and beliefs such as the Egyptians were usurped or threatened from within. Christianity was a useful tool for the Roman Empire at a time of political, economic and military crisis that occured from the very real problem of Rome's continuing adoption of other peoples deities. Like the Jews and Ahkenaten elevating one god over the myriad of others was nothing more than a play for power of the morality and therefore the character of the empire. Controlling the character of an empire was just as important as controlling the economy, the military and the politics and none were more than a few degree of seperation from the other.
Islam had the great benefit of being the last major monotheistic religion and relies heavily on that position to both debunk Judaism and Christianity and exist as the final word of a god who had his final word twice already. Islam's essential rehash of Judaism with more rules, an established hell and the re-working of Jesus is once again a display of man reworking stories rather than receiving words from God.


History as it stands is not on the side of any religious bok out there no matter how much apologists try to bend it to make it fit their beliefs, they will always be stuck in a priori mode. To be fair no-one except the most militant of atheists has a problem with people having beliefs, it's just that they do not want to be beholden to the beliefs of others. On the other hand i would assert that they aren't 'your beliefs' because very few religious people 'come to believe' as opposed to being raised within a church. Anything that is remotely divine is denied to you in my opinion as you are merely accepting other peoples beliefs rather than forming your own.

In 1929, Edwin Hubble discovered that farther galaxies are going away from us at higher speeds, proportional to their distance. In other words, the spectra of more distant galaxies had higher redshifts. From distant galaxies, light takes millions or even billions of years to reach us. This means we are seeing an image from millions or billions of years ago. In redshift, the spectrum is shifted from shorter wavelength to longer wavelength as the light travels from the galaxy to us. This increase in wavelength is due to expansion of the very fabric of space itself over the years that the light was traveling. If the wavelength had doubled, space must have expanded by a factor of two. Thus, Hubble's discovery was that this expansion factor was roughly proportional to the distance light traveled, or equivalently, to how far back in time you looked. This means that the universe was smaller and smaller earlier and earlier. The universe has been expanding.

The big bang, however, is merely a global description of the origin of the universe. Today, particle physicists have consistent theories about the history of the universe down to only a trillionth of a second after its birth or even earlier. They can test their theories experimentally with particle accelerators that can simulate events involving enormous energies similar to the condition at the beginning. To learn more about how exactly the universe began, physicists must develop a theory that works at even earlier times after the big bang. Such theory must combine both the general relativity (because of the extreme gravitational field at the beginning) and quantum mechanics (because of the extreme compactness of the universe at the beginning). The goal of physics today is to develop this quantum theory of gravity so that we may one day understand what exactly happened around the moment of the big bang to get the universe started.

The reason the bible was written in a limited period of time is because the bible is an account of Jesus' life and interactions, it is not an account of history or science.

1. Not having a human father does not imply that he is the son of God, to be worshiped. If so, then Adam is a greater son of God because he had no father and no mother.

2. Jesus said in Matthew 11:11 "Among them that are born of women there hath not arisen a greater than John the Baptist". When you say Jesus is greatest you are saying something against what he said.

3. Matthew 14:2 says "This is John the baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore do these powers work in him." So even if you prove that Jesus is unique as he resurrected, he is not unique.

4. Luke 11:20 says "But if I by the finger of God cast out demons". Yes, he did miracles, healed the sick, all with God's permissions. He did NOT say 'I cast out demons'.

5. In Psalms 146:3 says "Put not your trust in princes, Nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help." Now I'm asking you Christians, what is he implying from this? That he is god?

6. And any Christian please explain the incest the 'Word of God' associate to prophets. What is the moral of such things in Bible? Examples of such incest from Bible:

I say, you CANNOT believe in every word in the Bible, because it has clear contradictions - arithmetic, scientific facts (not theories, but established facts), logical (etc.) contradictions.
It has got wrong prophecies and evil advises.

It also has place which you can't read to your mother, sister, daughter; like incest between father and daughters, brother and sister, father-in-law and daughter-in-law; whore-doms of 2 sisters which the Bible explains clearly. Psychologists say, your behavior will be affected by what you read. So if your read such incest, don't you think your mind will be negatively affected?

Do you expect God to produce a Word with many contradictions and mistakes and pornography?

FEW EXAMPLES WITH REFERENCES:

1. Scientific Contradiction - Genesis 1:9-13 says ‘Earth was created on the third day.’ (this is just summary of the verses, plz read the Bible for yourself)
Genesis 1:14-19 says ‘The Sun and the Moon were created on the fourth day.’ (summary)
Today science tells us ‘Earth is part of the parent body the sun.’
It cannot come into existence before the sun – It is unscientific.

2. Arithmetic Contradiction - 1st Kings 7:26 "And it was an hand breadth thick, and the brim thereof was wrought like the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies: it contained two thousand baths."
2nd Chronicles 4:5 "And the thickness of it was an handbreadth, and the brim of it like the work of the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies; and it received and held three thousand baths."
Did he have 2000 baths or did he have 3000 baths? 50% exaggeration? There is a clear-cut mathematical contradiction.

3. Another BIG Arithmetic Contradiction - 2nd Chronicles 9:25 "And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem."
1st Kings 4:26 " And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen."
Its not with 0s, but it is written in words 'four' and 'forty'. 1000% exaggeration? This is a clear mistake.

4. Logical Error - 1st Chronocles 21:1 "And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel."
2nd Samuel 24 " And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah."
No language in the world has these 2 words - Lord and Satan - as synonyms; or even as somewhat similar.

5. God or Satan (acc. to the Bible) Lied - Genesis 2:17 "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt
surely die."
Genesis 3:4 "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:"
Of course Adam and Eve died, but not as a consequence of this sin. Adam live 930 years (mentioned in Genesis 5:5)
Acc. to the Bible, then, who was more truthful? Lord or Devil?

A 'GOOD' ADVICE IN THE BIBLE
Proverbs 31:6-7 "Let him drink, and forget his poverty, And remember his misery no more. Open thy mouth for the dumb, In the cause of all such as are left desolate." This is also contradicted by an opposite and real good advice in Ephesians 5:18 "And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;"

INCEST AND PORNOGRAPHIC DESCRIPTIONS:
1. Father and Daughters - Genesis 19:33-35 says Prophet Lot drinking wine, and then sleeping with his 2 daughters, and both of them begetting a son each.

That means we are accountable for our sins. But you say Jesus paid for our sins. Please read the complete Bible.

And read Luke 24:36-43, and tell me what do you understand. Did he imply that he died and resurrected? That he is a spirit?

This I think is due to the fact that maybe religious 'rules' or 'guidelines' are circular arguments in nature and people are mentally programmed to follow them since childhood.

The concept of good, bad, right and wrong is taught since childhood, by relating to religion.


Why does one believe in God?
Possible answers you may get:
-Bcoz someone wrote about it a thousand years ago.
-Bcoz the world around has so much diversity and intelligent design.
-Bcoz you cant create anything from nothing; something has to be present.
-You got to have faith...
etc...

The only good arguments, I think, are the second and third one.

By my experience, intelligent design HAS to occur at one place or the other.
Chaos is not an intelligent design, yet if you look at a closed system objectively, without any bias, you will find that what you call an intelligent design results from chaos. eg: stardust colluding to form planets and solar systems, etc.

One may call the same system chaotic, another may call it intelligent. This does not mean that if you think the system is intelligent it would had to be made by someone.

Next if something has to be present, for anything to be created, then what people call god must be within everything. My question - What is the fuss all about? This means what people call 'matter' is evidently 'god' as called by religious people. This must mean matter and god are one and the same thing.


Personally, I think religion is a kind of tool to control people. It is somewhat ingenious how people can be controlled by foolhardy reasoning.

I have had some experiences in life which have made me question the concept of god. When I ask about the reasons to those experiences, I get what I think are dumb answers.

Even though I think the concept of god is foolish,I still think a few religions have some wisdom embedded in them, especially the older ones like hinduism and buddhism.

Regarding religion(the holy books) there is no way to prove that they are exist or not, but we can use our common sense. Common sense says that if God does exist, then so does Fire and Hell. Good people go to Heaven, Bad people go to Hell. Holy Books are to make sure we go to Heaven by doing good deeds on this miserable planet. The reason why people are starting to believe that Religion is false, is because of all these extremists who are giving religion a bad name.

My point is read it for your self without any religious input, you will come to a very different view than that of most religions. The most high never gave his people a "religion" nor did his only begotten son come to start a "new religion", he was sent as an example of how to live in accordance with the laws and statutes of the most high.

Whether you believe it or not you are following God. To say that religion is nonsense is to say that
there is no power greater than us which heals the cut on your hand or grows the plant in your garden. I think it's evident that there is something greater than us which i like to call a 'Creative Force'.
I think it's great to have religion to follow but i don't think that it should be used to manipulate or to control people. People who hate religion or "don't believe in it" have never studied it at great length and are ignorant to the truth.
