LONDON - England - Most people who are admitted to hospital for a hip replacement don't think that they will be leaving in a body bag after being systematically tortured by nurses. Not so for those who enter St. George's Hospital in Tooting, South London.

Following a horrendous road accident in which my son was ejected through the rear window, the staff at A&E at St Georges 'forgot' to xray his spine and he was discharged in agony 48 hours later. When I took him back a few days later they decided to give him the missing xray and found that he had a fracture in his spine.

He was also given penicillin 3 times when it was clearly written on a wrist band that this was an allergy. When I queried this the nurse said 'well he's obviously not allergic to it' i replied 'clearly, as he's still alive'.

The levels of incompetance are absolutely astounding.

I hope the case where this poor young boy was murdered is treated as such. A Murder Enquiry.

It saddens me to see such a narrow-minded article on an obviously horrendous experience for this poor boy's family. Firstly, it is against the law for nurses to come to hospital with any hint of alcohol in their system, in fact the hospital I work for has a 'zero tolerance' policy where they would send nurses home after a disciplinary if they were found with it in their blood.
As for patient care, most of our team were inspired to become nurses prior to first-hand experience (themselves or a family member) of being in hospital and wanting to help others-in fact they work over and above their 3-4 12.5 hour shifts a week with one half an hour break....the thing is, I work for St George's hospital and I know how hard we all work and how much we really DO care about and for our patients- it's often time constraints imposed on us that force us to not be able to spend even more time caring for the people we have come in week upon week to humbly serve.
I pray that someday we have an even better healthcare service; where the government will understand people are not statistics/ numbers..and that the public will understand that we work hard to care for you.
